California Nurses' Registry Surety Bonds

The California Secretary of State requires that a nurses' registry (aka: nursing registry or register of nurses) obtain a $3,000 surety bond as part of the registry's licensing process according to Civil Code Section 1812.525. The bond is for the protection of the state and people of California to ensure that the registry practices ethical and compliant business practices.

The bond protects patients against acts of malpractice, mistreatment, fraud and misrepresentation of services and ensure that nurses and employees of the registry will ethically perform all duties in accordance with the applicable California laws and regulations.
